The Work Started With Me

The only thing I can
control is how I show up.
That changed everything.

I'm Ebony Jade Robinson — coach, consultant, and the founder of Ebb & Flow. Everything I do is grounded in something I had to learn for myself before I could ever teach it to anyone else.

Where this work came from

Ebb & Flow was built from lived experience. I've coached military couples, civilian couples, and same-sex couples. I've managed teams in the workplace, navigated my own personal relationships, and raised a child. None of it was linear. All of it was instructive.

What every experience taught me — the hard way, the way things actually stick — is that the most important relationship you will ever have is the one with yourself. When that one is honest and grounded, everything else becomes clearer. Not easier, necessarily. Clearer.

That understanding became the foundation of this practice. It shapes every session, every program, and every conversation I have with a client.

"I can't control what someone else brings into the room. I can only control how I show up. Once I understood that — really understood it — I became a better coach, a better partner, and a better person. That is what I want for every client I work with."

The approach

My background spans fitness management, mental health, and organizational consulting — which means I understand that healthy relationships don't exist in isolation. They are a byproduct of how you take care of yourself, how you communicate, what you've been carrying, and the choices you make every day about how to show up.

The work I do with clients — whether individual, couples, or group — is always structured, always honest, and always forward-facing. We are not here to relitigate the past. We are here to understand it well enough to stop repeating it.

What clients can expect

Honesty. I will not tell you what you want to hear. I will tell you what is useful.

Structure. Every program has a clear arc. You will always know where you are and where you're going.

Real tools. Not affirmations. Not vague advice. Frameworks you can use the moment you leave the session.

Presence. I am in the room with you — not just holding space, but actively working alongside you.

Respect for your autonomy. You make every decision. My job is to make sure you're making them clearly.
